The latest development from the design board of Rick Kendrick is the KlearBEAT.  It's a far more affordable alternative to expensive electronic devices, as it requires no batteries! Lastly,  we all have a story worthy to tell... so, share it.  Doing so might not only entertain,  but inspire... and it will also
help to feed a family in need.  Seriously!

Surely Firefighters & EMTs  have a story (that doesn't require a HEPPA waiver)
that they can repeat...!  No story is too big  or too small.  Country Crock wants to hear from you.  Think about it... you'll make it possible for people all across America to enjoy the simple pleasure of sitting down to a meal.

About Our New Masthead and Logo Design

Much like that old saying, "The cobbler's children go without shoes..."  over the last 6 months, we were so busy with just running the business that we simply hadn't the time to update the web site.  When we finally did sit down to bring it up to date, it was clear that it needed far more than just a few changes.  After a serious review, it was agreed that a complete facelift was in order, since the original logo (designed over a decade ago - with the over-lapping "RE" in both Fire and Rescue) now looked busy and hard to read in the new applications and products that we are producing.

Taking into account our company name (Fire-Rescue Products, International), and who our target market is, after all... the desired graphic was obvious (at least, to us).  This new company image - along with the text version (shown at the top of this web page) represents the two primary industries that we serve.  The new image attempts to unite the two in a rather unique yet simple and understated manner, by tying or lacing the two halves together with the serpent from the ancient Greek medical symbol, the Staff of Asclepius.  The "staff" now absent, is subliminally represented by the void between the two halves.  The new logo is clean and its "message" is easy to interpret.  On a cost-savings side... this new logo will also reduce our printing colors to just three, as well as making black & white reproduction easier and more visible.

This new corporate signature symbol was created by our parent company, The Image Group, a graphic design and marketing firm - that specializes in promoting products and services targeting the EMS, Fire and Rescue industries - worldwide.  We're very pleased with the end results - and hope you, our customers and friends, are too.

You say it looks familiar, well it just goes to show you that good minds do think alike (and you'd be correct on both accounts)!  Our friends at EMSbooks.com has had a similar design for quite some time.  And to be fair, we admittedly plagiarized, but with their consent.  (We'd like to extend a sincere and heart felt "Thank You" to Lou Jordan for his gracious permission and kind trust.)  In the end, each design is uniquely different as they are similar; much like our respective establishments.  Yet, despite the visual similarities, we highly doubt our new logo will confuse anyone.

We're serving up one smokin' new product offering after another!

At FIRE-RESCUE PRODUCTS - we're always looking to add new and better items to our On-Line Catalog - and we're pleased to offer the following EMS & Fire Service innovations from these great featured companies:

Recently, we've noted a serious increase in orders for the popular SmithCot™ brand of canvas style soft stretchers - for use in patient moving and evacuations.  Well, like mouse traps, a similar type device is out there... only - it's dramatically BETTER!  What's more, it's even LESS expensive, includes a handy storage bag
...AND - is available in a variety of sizes!

Soft Stretchers - from the good folks at

The Perry Pouch
The Perry Pouch soft stretcher cinches around the patient when lifted, offering rescuers fast & safe patient transportation.

As with all of our soft stretchers, the Perry Pouch is compact & lightweight (just 1 lb. 4 oz.) and is made from super-strong, bonded vinyl material, which - unlike similar cotton fiber devices - will not absorb bodily fluids, rain, snow or mud.  It is also mold resistant!

To clean, simply spray or wipe with any multipurpose disinfectant or antimicrobial cleanser, wipe dry, store in its handy deployment pouch and return to service.

It's that easy!

The Perry Pouch also features 1" black polypropylene tubular strap webbing with "easy-on-the-hands" Sure-Grip handles to reduce rescuer fatigue and insure better lifting and transfer.

Don't let its light weight fool you, the
Perry Pouch is designed to support
up to 500 pounds.

The NEW Perry Pouch II
So.  How do you make the Best even BETTER...?!
Simple: You improve upon it!
Great for use on narrow passageways, with
heavy individuals or when an extra purchase point is needed! And for less than $10 more than our s
tandard version, it is still less expensive than the competition...!  Oh, and yes... this version also comes with a handy storage bag, too!  Not just for Rescue Squads, Fire Departments and Emergency Disaster Preparedness Units... Both models of the Perry Pouch are perfect for: High Rise Office Buildings, Nursing and Retirement Homes, Cruise Ships, Vacation Resorts, Schools, Hospitals, Shopping Malls, Sports Facilities, Airports and Train Stations - to name but a few!  In short - wherever and whenever there is a need for rapid evacuation of the sick, injured and physically handicapped.

Soft Stretchers - from Large to XXXL
You may not know of John Heywood, the popular English playwright and poet (1497 to 1580), but he penned the familiar phrase, "many hands make light work"... suggesting that large tasks become small when divided among several people.  Well, Morrison Medical must agree - since they've taken their top selling Perry Pouch and expanded the surface area, as well as the number of the hand grip straps on their LARGE Evacuation Soft Stretcher - which measures a spacious 40" X 71" and offers 10 separate super-strong carry handles to make emergent transport safer and easier on the patient, as well as the rescuers!

And who said English Literature wouldn't come in handy after high school?

In keeping with the above trend that larger is better... we believe that - like a good Boy Scout - it's always wise to be prepared!  Thusly, our XXXLarge Soft Stretcher is exclusively designed to assure a safe transport (for rescuer & patient alike) of those individuals that require considerably more lift and carry assistance than a simple scoop stretcher or backboard would provide.

With a physical surface area equal to that of a full-size bed - PLUS over 26 (yup, you read that correctly... count 'em... twenty-six) individual handles, and yards of continuous webbing - you can effect many different configurations, thus making the XXXLarge Soft Stretcher great for nearly any rescue or evacuation situation - where extra hands and carrying support are a must!

Not just for moving patients... in fact, many agencies have found the XXXLarge Soft Stretcher is perfect for salvage ops, body recovery & equipment transport!

Water alone won't always put out a fire,
any more than it'll quench your thirst!

Firefighters know that when our SCBA runs empty, we typically head to REHAB to rest, rehydrate and await redeployment.  Quite often, we'll drink whatever is being offered... whether it's soda, sports or fruit drinks, coffee or bottled water.  Sure, they satisfy our thirst and wet a dry throat, but - do they replenish
the needed nutrients that our bodies require
to function at optimum capacity?

In most cases - the answer is a resounding "NO!"  Sodas are mostly sugar, and the LAST thing we need.  Rather, it's electrolytes that our body is craving, and most sports drinks don't offer enough!

Any EMT can tell you that symptoms of heat stress
may include:

dizziness,
poor concentration,
loss of coordination, weakness,
muscle pain & cramping,
irritability,
general discomfort,
fatigue,
blurry vision,
headache,
nausea,
confusion and unconsciousness.

UC Berkeley-based agricultural personnel management specialist Howard Rosenberg warns... "excess heat can impair the body even before a person feels ill".

Although some of the heat that a majority of people have to deal with comes directly or indirectly from exposure to the sun, most heat is generated by our own bodies.  Rosenberg says, "At rest the body produces little heat, but at work it demands more energy and faster metabolism, which greatly increases internal heat production."  To cool itself, the body first increases blood flow toward the body surface.  This reduces the flow available to carry oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, brain and other internal organs, which in turn impairs strength, diminishes alertness and accelerates fatigue.  "When this mechanism doesn't release heat fast enough, sweat glands kick in, " say Rosenberg. "They draw water from the bloodstream to form sweat that carries heat across outer layers of the skin and then evaporates." The loss of water through sweating impairs the body's ability to cool itself later, and the loss of electrolytes in sweat can cause muscle cramps.   The longer the sweating, the less blood volume remains and the greater the health risk.

Without the proper rehydration fluids & nutrients, Firefighters are more likely to suffer the symptoms shown at upper left - and not be aware if it!

...to the Rescue!

electroBlast provides the necessary amount of minerals to create electrolytes - when added to your beverage-of-choice (water, juice, etc.) and should be used on a daily basis when additional hydration is necessary during outdoor events.

Customized EMS and Fire Service On-Scene Accountability
ICS Management Boards that are designed to meet YOUR needs!

Like countless EMS and Fire service agencies, we too, have tried many "standard style" on-scene ICS command and management boards.  You know the kind - "one style fits all".  Some were close to addressing what we needed, yet others required modification, and then there were a few that just went back in the box.  Since most of us at are seasoned Firefighters with years of experience in Incident Command and Accountability (in addition to having access to professional graphic designers), it was only natural that we'd combine our respective talents to create a fully customized, yet affordable data board
system to meet our own needs, as well as that of our customers.

Now - whether you're part of an EMS agency, Fire or Police Department,
or a Tactical Rescue Unit - you no longer have to simply accept using someone else's generic off-the-shelf write-on/wipe-off data board!  We specialize in making customized incident management data systems that are ICS & NIMS compliant (and that are easy to use, too!)  If you're looking for a data board that is designed exclusively for your needs, let us design a system for you that best fits your desired application, specification AND budget!

Available in a variety of sizes and writing surfaces.

Consumer Fire Hazard Warning:

Now, we knew the X-Box from Microsoft was a hot item...
but this is serious!

Fire Hazard Found In X-Box Power Cord

REDMOND, Wash. -- Microsoft said it will replace the power cord on more than 14 million X-box consoles worldwide because of a fire hazard.  The company said there have been 30 failures that caused minor burns or smoke and fire damage to carpets or entertainment centers.  In seven instances, it said some customers suffered minor burns to their hands.

X-box owners can order a free replacement cord online at www.xbox.com.
Microsoft recommended customers turn off their X-box consoles when not in use to reduce the risk of fire.

For more information, consumers are directed to:

Like many of our Brothers and Sisters, we have watched countless hours of Post 9/11 memorials and a anniversary interviews.  Although nothing can ever be said enough to honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice (despite the fact that each one of the 343 would simply say they were doing their job), one interview caught our collective attention. CNN's Larry King was interviewing the Firefighters of Engine 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9 of the FDNY. Well worth the time. Didn't see it? Not to worry.
